canstruction
canstruction will be a three day event held from the 10th-12th of February, 2011 at the Mayborn Center at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Teams of five people (from schools, businesses, churches and the community) will be mentored by engineers, architects or interior designers to build sculptures out of canned goods. The teams will come up with a design model and practice building before the competition in February. On the day of the competition, competing teams will have two hours to build their model on a 10′x10′ space not to exceed 8′ in height. (Click here to see how they are built.)
During canstruction, the public will be invited to view the works of art made out of canned goods by the competing teams on the 11th and 12th. In addition, a special guest speaker will share his story during the luncheon on the 11th while the gala / awards ceremony will be held the evening of the 12th. At the completion of this canstruction event, Helping Hands will receive all of the canned food items to help stock its pantry. All funds raised during this three day event will go towards the ministries available to the clients of Helping Hands.
Teams have already formed but there are still available entry spots for 13 more teams.
